Vauxhall Headlight Repair

Vauxhall headlight repair puts your own Insignia, Astra or Corsa unit back to work, whether the trouble is damp behind the lens, a cover gone cloudy and cracked, or a beam that no longer lights. You keep the original unit, and only the part that has failed is renewed.

Astra: a lens that has crazed or split

An Astra that has done its miles on the motorway often shows it on the headlight cover first: fine crazing, a dull haze, then a crack from a stone. The replacement cover is bonded to the housing you already have, so the reflector, beam pattern and wiring are left exactly as they were.

If the daytime light on your Astra is a separate bulb rather than an LED strip inside the unit, a new bulb is the answer. The photo will tell us which kind you have before anything is quoted.

Corsa: when repair is not the sensible choice

Plenty of Corsas left the factory with halogen headlights. A brand-new halogen unit usually costs less than opening and rebuilding the old one, and if your photos show a halogen Corsa unit you will be told that straight away rather than quoted for work that makes no sense.

Corsas with xenon or LED lighting are a different matter, because the replacement unit is far dearer than the part that has actually failed.

What gets renewed inside a Vauxhall unit

  • Water inside: the lens comes off, the old bead of sealant is cleaned out and the joint is sealed again.
  • Xenon beam out: the ballast or igniter that has died is renewed, never patched up.
  • LED section dark: the board is replaced together with its heatsink.
  • Snapped mounting lug: a repair kit or a fresh rear housing, whichever you prefer.

Vauxhall headlight questions

My Vauxhall is not an Insignia, Astra or Corsa. Can its headlight be repaired?

Usually, as long as it is a xenon or LED unit. Mokka, Zafira and Grandland owners can send photos in the same way and get a clear yes or no.

Do you need the headlight off the car before quoting?

No. Pictures taken with the unit still fitted are fine. Take one in daylight and one at night with the lamps lit, and tell us when the car was first registered.
