SEAT Headlight Repair
SEAT headlight repair covers the faults these cars are known for: a running light strip that turns a dark amber, a lens that crazes from the inside, and water that finds its way past an ageing seal. Each one is put right inside the unit already on your car.

Ibiza 6L and 6J: lenses first
On an Ibiza the cover is usually what gives up. Years of sun leave it chalky, and a stone chip on the motorway can start a crack that spreads across it.
Polishing only takes the surface haze off for a while. A new lens bonded onto the original housing deals with chalking and cracks alike, and the beam pattern is untouched because the reflector stays put.
Later 6J cars with xenon lights may also carry an LED running light strip, which can be renewed if it has faded or gone dark.
Altea, Exeo and newer SEATs
Altea and Exeo units come in for the same reasons as older Leons: a misted lens or a dead xenon beam. On xenon cars a faulty ballast or igniter is exchanged for a brand-new part; the bulb is checked first, since it is the cheapest part to rule out.
Newer models such as the Ateca and Arona are mostly LED. A dark section usually means a failed board or driver, and both are replaced inside the existing headlight.
Halogen SEATs
Many base-model SEATs have halogen units. A new halogen headlight tends to cost less than repairing the old one, so unless you particularly want to keep the original, the honest advice is to replace it.
SEAT headlight questions
Do you repair Cupra headlights too?
Yes. Cupra units are built the same way as their SEAT relatives, so the same repairs apply: send photos and the model.
One mounting lug on my SEAT headlight has snapped. Is the whole unit scrap?
No. A tab repair kit can be fitted, or the internals moved into a fresh rear housing if you would rather the repair did not show.
