Ford Headlight Repair

Ford headlight repair keeps the unit fitted to your Focus, Fiesta, Kuga or Mondeo and fixes the part inside it that has failed. On these cars that is most often the lens, followed by water getting in.

Focus (Mk2, Mk3)

Cloudy or cracked lenses, plus damp units.

Fiesta: replacing a tired lens

The Fiesta spends most of its life in town traffic and on the school run, and its headlight covers show their age: yellowing, a frosted look and the odd stone crack. A replacement lens is fitted to the housing your car came with.

If your Fiesta has plain halogen units, a new headlight is usually the cheaper route. The photos will show which you have before anything is booked.

Kuga, Mondeo and C-Max: running lights and xenon

On these three the question is usually a dark running light. Some versions use a bulb for it, in which case there is nothing to repair; others have an LED strip or board built into the headlight, and that part can be renewed on its own.

Xenon Kugas and Mondeos that lose the dipped beam get a new ballast or igniter rather than a reworked one.

Newer Fords with LED headlights

The Puma, the latest Kuga and the Mk4 Focus offer full LED units. When a section goes dark, the board or driver behind it is changed inside the housing. Running lights and indicators are tested on the bench, whereas an LED dipped beam can only be proven once it is back on the Ford.

Ford headlight questions

Can you repair the headlight from a Transit or Transit Custom?

Yes, if it is a xenon or LED unit. Van operators can send photos the same way as anyone else.

The bracket on my Ford headlight broke in a car park bump. Can it be fixed?

Usually. A tab repair kit is the quicker option; moving the internals into a new rear housing gives a cleaner result.
