Headlight Guides
Headlight guides for three problems that turn up again and again: water or mist inside the lamp, a cracked lens, and running lights that fail or go yellow. Each one covers what you can check or try yourself, where the MOT stands, and the point at which the unit needs opening up.
Pick the problem in front of you
Water and mist inside the lamp
Telling a harmless haze from a leak, drying a unit out for now, and when the seal has to be redone.
Cracked or broken lenses
Repair tape, resin kits and a new lens compared, and how a cracked or taped lens is graded at the MOT.
Daytime running lights and the MOT
Which cars have their running lights tested, how a dead or yellowed one is graded, and the repair.
When a guide is not enough
If the checks in a guide do not sort it, the lamp needs a workshop. This is repair work on the headlight unit itself, not lens polishing: seals, lenses, housings, LED boards and daytime running lights.
The unit comes off the car and comes to us by courier within the UK, or is collected where that can be arranged. Everything we take on is listed under Headlight Repair Services.
Not sure which problem you have?
Send a few photos of the headlight, one with the lamps on, and the make, model and year. The quote tells you what is wrong and what it takes to put right.
Send the details, get a price back
Say which car it is and what the headlight is doing, add a couple of photos, and your quote arrives by email. Nothing has to come off the car until you have agreed to it.
