Kia Headlight Repair

Kia headlight repair saves the unit on your Sportage, Ceed or Rio when it has filled with condensation, lost its clear cover or stopped showing its LED running light. Your headlight is opened, the faulty part dealt with, and the unit sealed shut again.

Sportage

Condensation and lens replacement.

Ceed: running lights that stop working

Many Ceeds have an LED running light strip inside the headlight. When part of it goes dim or the whole strip stays off, the strip or its board is replaced inside the unit; the rest of the headlight is left alone.

A video of the lights switching on helps here, because some faults only show for the first few seconds.

Rio and Picanto: halogen or not?

The smaller Kias often leave the factory with halogen headlights. For those, a new unit generally costs less than a repair, and you will be told that rather than sold one.

Rios with LED projectors or LED running lights are a better case for repair, since only the failed board needs replacing.

Other Kia faults that are put right

  • Water inside a Niro, XCeed or Sorento unit: lens off, joint cleaned, resealed.
  • Cover hazed or cracked: replaced on the original housing.
  • Broken fixing tab after a bump: a repair kit or a replacement rear housing.
  • Dark LED dipped beam: board or driver renewed, then confirmed on the car.

How a Kia job runs

  1. Look at the photos

Most faults can be identified from a clear picture with the lights on.

  2. Open the unit

Anything unexpected found inside is reported to you, and nothing extra is done without your agreement.

  3. Test and return

Boards are lit on the bench first. Bench time for a Kia unit is confirmed in your quote.

Kia headlight questions

My Kia is still under the manufacturer's warranty. Should I go to the dealer?

If the fault is covered, yes, ask the dealer first. Repair here makes sense once the warranty has ended or the claim has been turned down.

Can I keep using the car while I wait for the quote?

Yes. Pricing is done from pictures, and the Kia keeps its headlight until you give the go-ahead.
