Renault Headlight Repair

Renault headlight repair is, more often than not, a running light job: the LED signature on a Megane or Captur that has dulled, turned yellow or gone out. Lenses and damp come next, and every repair is made on the unit already fitted to your Renault.

Clio: covers and older xenon units

A Clio headlight cover turns dull and chalky after enough summers parked outside, and a crack from a stone is common at the front edge. A new lens is fitted to your original housing and sealed in.

Plenty of Clios have halogen lights; for those a replacement headlight is usually the more sensible spend. Where a Clio has LED or xenon units, repairing the failed part is the better deal.

Captur, Scenic and Laguna: running light faults

These three can carry an LED running light inside the headlight. When the light turns yellowish, flickers or does not come on, it is normally the strip or the board that drives it, and that part alone is renewed.

Some versions use a separate bulb for the running light instead. A photo with the lights on tells the two apart before you spend anything.

Why a new running light module may not fix it

Owners often buy a replacement module online, plug it in and find the light just as yellow. On many Renaults the fault is the scorched strip inside the headlight, which a new module cannot reach.

  • Scorched strip: removed and replaced inside the unit.
  • Damp behind the cover: lens lifted and resealed.
  • Broken mounting lug: repair kit or new rear housing, as you prefer.

New strips and boards are switched on and checked before the Renault unit is closed up. Turnaround on a Renault headlight is confirmed in your quote.

Renault headlight questions

Do you repair headlights from the Trafic or Master van?

Xenon and LED van units, yes. Halogen ones on these vans are usually cheaper to replace.

Does the headlight have to come off before I get a price?

No. A quote is worked out from photos of the unit on the car and the year of registration.
