Kia Sportage Headlight Repair
Kia Sportage headlight repair is most often asked for because of water: misting that will not clear, or droplets running down the inside of the cover. A unit with a worn or broken lens is the other common case, and both are fixed on the headlight from your own Sportage.

Condensation in a Sportage headlight
The tell-tale signs are a cloud that is still there after a long drive, water pooling at the bottom of the unit, or a dirty film where droplets have dried. Each means the seal around the cover is no longer tight.
The repair is to open the headlight, remove all of the old sealant, let the inside dry completely and bond the lens back with fresh sealant. Easy checks to try before booking are in How to Remove Condensation From a Headlight.
Third, fourth and fifth generation units
The third-generation Sportage used halogen or xenon headlights, the fourth brought in LED versions, and the current car is LED across most of the range.

- Common fault
- Condensation and standing water
On halogen Sportages a replacement unit is often the cheaper choice. Xenon and LED units are where repair saves real money.
On an LED Sportage, a segment or running light that stays dark usually comes down to one board or its driver. That part is renewed inside the headlight, and any reflector chrome lifted by damp is re-coated while the unit is open.
Worn, chipped or broken lenses
A Sportage cover that has gone milky, or one that cracked when something hit it, is replaced with a new lens on the same housing. The work is done with the cover off, so any damp inside is cleared and the joint resealed at the same time.

Sportage headlight questions
Is it safe to drive with water in a Sportage headlight?
In the short term the light still works, but standing water can damage the reflector and the electronics. It is better to have it resealed before that happens.
Both headlights mist up. Do both need doing?
Only the ones where the moisture stays. Light fog on both that clears with the lights on is normal condensation.
