VW Touareg DRL Repair
VW Touareg DRL repair brings back the running light on a 2009 to 2012 Touareg headlight by renewing the failed part inside it, so the large xenon unit does not have to be bought new. The same visit can take in the lens, the seal or the xenon electronics if they need it.
What happens to a Touareg running light
The LEDs that make up the running light sit right against the clear guide that carries their glow. Years of heat discolour that guide, so one side turns amber, or a board gives out and leaves a dark gap.
Neither is fixed by changing a bulb from outside. Whether the running light is reached from the rear or by lifting the lens depends on the unit, and your photos show which.
The repair, step by step

Touareg running lights and the MOT
In the MOT inspection manual, a daytime running lamp that is inoperative or missing counts as a major defect. A lamp made up of several LEDs with up to half of them out is a minor defect; beyond half, it is major.
A dark strip on a Touareg is not just a cosmetic issue, so it is worth booking the repair ahead of the test.
