Scania Headlight Repair (R and S Series)

Scania headlight repair is for operators and drivers whose R or S series lorry has a running light that has burnt out. The failed part is renewed inside the existing headlight, so there is no need to buy a complete new unit for the cab.

Large lorry headlight on a heavy stand, its daytime running light burnt out

A running light fault that keeps turning up

For an operator it usually shows up on the daily walkaround check: one daytime running light dark on an R or S series cab of the past decade, while the housing, lens and main lamps around it are still doing their job. On these lorries it is a familiar fault, and it does not mean ordering a new headlight.

The repair targets that one part. The headlight is opened, the burnt running light component is replaced, and the unit is sealed again before it goes back on the cab.

R series and S series

Both cab ranges carry the running light inside the headlight itself. The fault and the fix are the same on either, though the photos will confirm the exact unit before anything is quoted.

Keeping the lorry working

  • Quoted from photos and a short video, so the vehicle stays in service until you decide.
  • Only the failed running light part is renewed; housing, lens and wiring plug stay original.
  • The new running light part is powered up and watched on the bench before the unit goes back.

The repair time for a Scania unit is confirmed in your quote.

Other lorries, vans and coaches

Headlights from other makes of HGV, from vans and from buses and coaches can be repaired too when the fault is inside the unit. Damp, a cracked lens or a failed LED board are handled the same way as on a car, just on a larger housing.

Scania headlight questions

Is a burnt-out running light on a Scania a bulb change?

No. On these lorries the running light is built into the headlight, so the repair means opening the unit and replacing the failed part inside it.

We run several Scanias with the same fault. Can they be done as a batch?

Yes. Send photos of each unit and one quote can cover the lot.
