Fiat Headlight Repair
Fiat headlight repair is worth it on some cars and not on others, and this page sets out which is which. LED running lights on the later 500, worn covers on the Punto and the larger units on the 500X and Ducato can be repaired; a simple bulb fault is a job for a new bulb.
Fiat 500: is it the bulb or the strip?
Only 500s with an LED running light carry a strip inside the headlight that can be repaired. If your car's running light is not an LED strip and it has gone out, look at the bulb and its connector first, since either is a quick and cheap fix.
The LED running light strip only came in with the 2015 facelift, and only on the versions fitted with it. On those cars, a strip that has dimmed, tinted or failed sits inside the headlight, and that is where it gets renewed.
A photo of the light switched on is usually enough to tell the two apart.
What can be put right on a post-2015 500
- LED running light strip dull, tinted or dark: replaced inside the unit.
- Moisture behind the cover: lens lifted, joint cleaned and resealed.
- Cover hazed or cracked: new lens on the original housing.
The new strip is lit on the bench before the headlight is sealed and sent back.
Punto: lens replacement
On the Punto the usual problem is a cover that has gone cloudy or cracked. Many Puntos have halogen headlights, where a new unit often costs less than a repair, and the reply to your photos will be straight about that.
500X and Ducato: running lights and damp
Versions of the 500X with LED running lights can have the failed strip or board renewed inside the unit. On the Ducato the photos show whether the running light is an LED part in the headlight or a separate bulb; damp inside either is cured by resealing.

Can a halogen Fiat headlight be repaired?
It can, but a new halogen unit usually costs less, so that is normally the better choice unless you want to keep the original.
