# Renault Megane DRL Repair

Renault Megane DRL repair fixes the C-shaped running light that has turned yellow, gone patchy or died on one side. The scorched strip inside the headlight is replaced, so the unit itself stays on the car instead of being swapped for a new one.

## Megane 3 or Megane 4: which running light you have

On the Megane 4 the running light is the C-shaped signature built into the headlight. The Megane 3 only gained an LED running light in the headlight at its last facelift; earlier Megane 3s have nothing of this kind to repair.

## What the repair involves

1. **Confirm the fault.** A short video of the lights switching on shows whether it is the strip, a board or wiring.
2. **Open and replace.** The cover is lifted, the scorched strip removed and a new one seated in its place. On a Megane 3 a failed board is renewed the same way.
3. **Light up and seal.** The running light is lit on the bench before the lens is bonded back on.

## Why a new module behind the headlight rarely helps

Plenty of Megane owners try a replacement module first and find the light just as yellow. The LEDs are usually still working; what has changed is the strip they shine into, which sits so close to them that years of heat brown it to a dark amber.

That is why the Megane 4 is among the cars where this fault crops up most, and why only a new strip inside the unit brings the white back.

## The MOT and a discoloured running light

The MOT inspection manual deals with daytime running lamps in section 4.2. There, a lamp whose emitted colour is out of line with the rules is a minor defect, and one that will not light is a major one.

## Megane running light questions

### My Megane running light flickers rather than turning yellow. Is it the same repair?

Often the cause is then a board rather than the strip. A short video shows which, and either part is renewed inside the headlight.

### Should both sides be done together?

If the other side has started to tint as well, doing the pair keeps them matched. If it is still white, one side is enough.
