## Why a Lexus lens swap tends to go smoothly

Some makes bond their covers with a stubborn adhesive or use plastic so thin that it marks when the unit is opened. Lexus headlights, older and newer models alike, separate cleanly once the sealant has been softened.

## Running lights and LED sections

Most recent Lexus models use LED headlights with a running light built in. If the running light dims, flickers or goes out, or one of the LED projectors stays dark, the board or driver concerned is replaced inside the unit.

- LED board failed: renewed together with its heatsink.
- Failed LED driver: swapped for a new one.
- Running light dark: the strip or board behind it renewed.

## Moisture inside a Lexus unit

Fog that stays behind the cover, or water collecting at the base, means the seal has a gap. With the cover off, the old sealant is removed, the inside dried and the lens sealed again. If the chrome on a reflector has started to peel, it is re-coated at the same time.
